SEVELIN URBAN FESTIVAL

New K2 Skate ambassador Thomas Bortolameolli was in Lausanne checking out the Sevelin Urban Festival. Here’s what he had to say about it:Screen Shot 2015-08-25 at 9.55.19 AM

What to say about Lausanne!? The Sevelin Urban Festival has remained one of Europe’s bigger contests and the atmosphere here is just awesome. Part of that atmosphere is created by the fact that I only see some of my fellow competitors only once or twice a year, yet they still feel like some of my best friends. That camaraderie is part what of what I love about heading to these competitions.

What’s especially cool about this festival is that all roller sports were represented this year. It had everything from roller-derby to the World Roller Cross Series, in addition to the Aggressive Inline Contest. Along with all the skate comps, there’s a big tradeshow where you can check out all the new skating goods, and other urban sports like parkour, slack line, BMX and even a FMX Show! And I won’t even start telling you about the parties….

The level of the Aggressive Inline contest in Lausanne is just over the top. Not just the pros but also the amateurs are killing it with big tech tricks on swiss-style obstacles. There also seems to be more of an atmosphere of a session with friends rather than a competition, which brings out the best of each rider, pushing each other to the limit with every trick.

Check out www.ircl.ch or www.facebook.com/rollerlausanne for more information and reserve the date for next year and see for yourself. It is definitely a must in my travel agenda! A big up to the organization of the contest, who help provide such a rad event for riders and spectators. Big thanks also goes out to La Fievre Skatepark , HS36, and especially Diego Luppi, for such a flawless event. Merci beaucoup, see you again next year!
